How the calculations work
Fuel cost per rental hour = fuel price × gallons per hour × Tach/Hobbs ratio. Hourly operating cost includes fuel, oil, engine reserve, maintenance and propeller reserve. Monthly fixed cost is annual fixed cost divided by 12.
The target rental-hour benchmark remains 50 hours per month. Edit Hours / month in each scenario row to explore different utilization. Percentage break-even rental rate = (monthly fixed cost ÷ 50 + hourly operating cost) ÷ (1 − school share). Fixed-fee break-even rental rate = monthly fixed cost ÷ 50 + hourly operating cost + school fee per hour.
Revenue / month is total rental revenue before the school’s share or fee. Owner share is what remains after that deduction. B/E gap is owner share less total monthly costs: a negative amount is a shortfall; a positive amount is profit. Defrayed shows how much fixed ownership cost is covered below break-even and displays “Profit” when the gap reaches zero.
For fewer than one rental hour, owner cost per hour uses a denominator of one. Total monthly costs and profit still use the actual rental hours. Defaults are illustrative. Tax, depreciation and resale value are excluded. Your entries are not submitted or saved.
